Cinnamon Rolls by Accident

Tonight I needed a snack. I was out of smarties and swedish fish. Frozen pepsi just wouldn't be enough tonight... I went to my cupboards (pathetically bare) and found cinnamon, powdered and regular sugar. I had some good french bread and some icy milk. I still wasn't too excited.

I knew I had real butter. But no eggs so no french toast sticks. So I put about 1 Cup of milk in a bowl with about 1/4 cup (yes lots) of cinnamon. Then, I put about 3 TBS of the real butter in a fry pan, dipped the bread, (3 pieces) in the milk & cinnamon. Then I fried it crispy and cut it into little pieces. Then I put some sugar and some powdered sugar in a Target bag and shook the bread pieces in the bag. When I dumped them out, I thought, "Hey... those look just like cinnamon rolls." and they taste like them too.
Hopefully, you'll never find yourself this desperate. But many a great idea has come from an act of desperation. I took photos but they're on my phone. I'll post them soon.

Banana Bread W/ Cinnamon Orange Butter

This is a moist, nut free bread bursting with fresh citrus flavor.

You'll need:

1 Cup Flour
2 Eggs
1 Stick Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
3-4 mashed ripe bananas
Mix above ingredients well, place in a greased loaf pan. Cook for 45 minutes at 325'

The Cinnamon Orange Butter:
Soften 1 stick of butter
Add lots of Cinnamon
Grate alot of orange peel (zest) into it
Refrigerate

Parmesan Toast Strips

These are better than garlic bread or cheese sticks.

2 Cups crushed Rice Krispies
3/4 Cup Parmesan Cheese
1 tsp Onion Salt
1/2 Cup Melted Butter
6 Slices Toast
A hammer to crush the krispies in a plastic bag

Preheat Oven to 400'
Combine Rice Krispies and Parmesan in bowl
Use pizza cutter to cut toast into 5 narrow strips
Combine butter with onion salt
Dip each stick in butter, then in crumbs
Place on baking sheet
Bake 5 minutes
They will seem soggy, but crisp up as they cool
Okay, I'm getting so hungry right now

Cherry Cream Stuffed French Toast

Okay, I know you aren't going to rise before dawn and make this every day. I used to make it on my son's birthday and serve it to him in bed. Or, you could serve it to that special man to help him fall in love with you! Yep, that still seems to be the way to their cold, dark hearts. LOL! (See Cap'n Crunch Honey Chicken) I don't usually put my recipes on that are too much trouble unless they're worth it. Oh, by the way, I'm not really laughing out loud.

8 Eggs
1/4 Cup Evaporated Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
12 Slices Dry White Bread
1- 8 oz pkg Softened Cream Cheese
1 Can Cherry Pie Filling
4-6 TBSP Butter
Powdered Sugar

Beat eggs,milk, spices
Spread each slice of bread with cream cheese
Spread 6 Slices with Cherries, almost to the edges
Cover with remaining bread, cream cheese side down (duh)
Dip in egg mixture
Cook in hot butter for about 3 minutes each side
I use lots of butter in the pan, they cook better that way
Cut them in half so whoever is eating it will see how fancy you are!
Sprinkle with powdered sugar
